I've just spent some time looking back through months of messages. I'm beginning to feel older than ever, as so many are now being posted by people who started and left ages after I left WGS. Bit like Policemen and Doctors I guess.
I have a whole load of old photos that I was going to post but unfortunately, my scanner packed up this morning. Once I have a new one in place I will post them - WATCH OUT you may be amongst those unlucky people I have pictures of! Pete Crowder, if you are still online please sort out your e-mail address, it doesn't work anymore and I would like to get in touch.

I was good to receive the information about the Re-union next year.
I wonder why the carrybean theme was chosen. Has anyone ever tried to dance a smooch to a steel Band (impossible I here you say). Should we have had a Good Old Umpah Day remind ourselves that we went to a School in Germany not Jamaica. Oh I will still be going, wouldn't miss it

It is nice to c that so many others enjoyed school as much as I did, and reading through some of the post-its has brought back some excellent memories. And to the teacher it may concern, it was Dee Bryce, Karl Fessey and myself that moved the VW Beetle from the VE shed that lonely weekend thro' the school holidays back in 83.
I am happily married to my beautiful wife Gill and we have 4 lovely chilren

After all these years never thought to use the wb site. WSH was just a happy distant memory. Saw Phil Bosley's web site and he was one of the five I shared dorm with. Any others from that era out there that recalls me. How about Alan Thomson or Lesley Bailey from the M girls? Also Peter Halford with who I also went to primary school in Cologne. The memory isn't so good and I can't remember many names now but I can picture a few of the faces from the past. I played in goal for the Marlborough Junior football team when we beat Caernarfon 2-0, Hillsborough 2-0, Lost to Balmoral 2-0, and drew 3-3 with Sandringham. Not many people know that. your memory seems OK to me - DP
Seriously, would love to hear from anyone there at that time

Just happened to be told about this site ( not that I hadnt tried looking for the "Stalag Luft Windsor BFPO103" connection before) 3rd hand via Dave McGurk and My brother Jes Eckford ( yes... Dave Raferty he IS still knocking about). I Read through all the names that i could put faces to in the visitors book the likes of Paul Wharton, Karl Spencer, Rob Wright, Los Parry, Andy lindley, Ian Mathews,Alan McGurk, Keiron McDonald and several other names which rang bells of sorts. Needless to say we are all close to passing (or have passed) our 40th birthdays...which would make many of the people/staff who were charged with our education welfare and well-being, into or approaching their 60's, and possibly beyond prosecution if they aren't of sound mind currently! ( i also have a sneaking suspicsion that some of them weren't of sound mind back then either. Hopefully, the Visitor Book Editor has a keen sense of humor.
The Sad-Ham-N-Ring crew covering the Ramsdales, Scotts,Bryces...memories of blood and guts on the war games evenings held normally over viso's...(responsibility Ramsdale, Scott and Ball me thinks), other memories of a chapter of the German Hells angels turning up and causing ' some problems ' (understated here) with the main block plumbing system, the 'back-pitch' effect of drawing a crowd, the loan sharks lending the smokers' money at slightly inflated market rates, the general interal currency of shredded-wheat/cornflakes/yogurt/roastchicken/schnitzel,the stashing of contra-band such as beer and top-shelf magazines.....oh yes.... and a reasonable education. Thanks to all those that made positive
contributions

Dear society,
I question your info regarding WGS. My family was stationed at Hamm with REME 1955-1958. We lived at Elk Strasse before the houses were built at Am Hokenhotz.
WGS was then known as Rowcroft Barracks (after the 1st DEME)It was 5inf workshops REME. Major Ted Crystal 1st commanded then it was Major Blessington. My father was a Major also at the time. The lasat block (left , ground floor was the primary school -Miss Williams then Berny Newbury were the headteachers & there was Miss McGregor, who fell off a horse & broke her collar-bone. My mother taught at the primary school during that time. The Culter children were in the school at the same time. We lived next door to "Tommy Thomas" & his family. The Aspinalls were in the Colonels house. We lived at 39 am Hokenholtz before being posted to HK. I then returned to Hamm as a border 1961-1964. There are numerous staff members , military personel & there families that I remember from that time apart from my comtemperories at WBS & WGS.
regards

would appreciate some imformation/help from all you well educated "Windsorites". I am contemplating a trip to Hamm in the near future, mainly as a surprise for my brothers (Rob Overd - Edinburgh '73 til its closure)40th Birthday which is in December.
Has anyone been back and do they have information on reasonable accomodation, whether haunts like the "MB" is still around and who I need to contact about getting access to WBS.
Anyone who remembers Rob and would like to pass on any birthday messages (keep them reasonably clean!!!!!!)or have some good stories (obviously involving Rob)that I could read at his bash, please pass them on.
Midge - thanks for responding to my email - will reply in due course. See you all at the reunion..

Hi guys! Sorry to all the folks who have contacted me and I didn't reply, had IT problems, can you mail me again so I have your emails. This site is just so good! Nice to see Nick Cuthbertson on the list! Does anyone have contact with Jimmy Nelson or Trevor McArdle? I reckon we should have a secret society for all the people who at some time or another broke into the kitchens! My claim to faim is breaking into the sickbay kitchen by climbing onto the roof from the toilet window! (Why I ask myself? Didn't they feed us?)Those days of lunacy are over now and I am a sensible fellow. Except when I had too much to drink!!.
